The core concepts booklet outlines a simple framework to ensure uniformity and consistency in the standards of undergraduate Biochemistry and Molecular Biology teaching across Australian higher education. The booklet contains:

Core Concepts: Four Core Concepts, each with 3-5 associated Subthemes.

Core Experimental Approaches: Six essential technical approaches in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.

Core Skills: Eight key skills necessary for graduates to be job-ready in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Academics can use the Australian Core Concepts framework to establish new well-structured curricula, or to revise their existing curriculum. They may also find the core concepts useful when mapping discipline specific outcomes to the national Science Threshold Learning Outcomes (TLOs) framework - these TLOs serve as a key reference point for science and mathematical sciences education. The core concepts can also be used to provide clear benchmarks in assessment, as well as to ensure focus in teaching.
