This work for solo piano was written in 2005, and transcribed and then published in 2023. Along with most of the music I wrote in my undergraduate years, this was a handwritten work that I lost track of and only had the recording as evidence of it existing at all. As such, this is a transcription of the original work and was inspired by the birth of my first niece, Dayna Corkery.


The title, Danaid, is in reference to the species of butterfly that have evolved a set of remarkable defenses that include their stunningly beautiful visual colorations (such as the Monarch).
