This dataset contains numerical simulations covering the time period 22 February 2022 - 07 March 2022, corresponding to very heavy rainfall on the east coast of Australian and catastrophic flooding in Lismore. The simulations are run with the ACCESS model, with a horizontal grid of 2.2 km.

The dataset consists of four versions of the same model:

Flood-c: Free running version nested in ERA5 (no reinitialization)

Flood-r: Restart version nested in ERA5 – model reinitialised every 24 hours with 12-hour spin-up

Flood-barra: Restart version nested in BARRA1 reanalysis

Flood-barra-soil: Restart version nested in ERA5, but with BARRA1 reanalysis soil moisture

Model variables saved are:

uas - 10 metre wind u component

vas - 10 metre wind v component

reflmax - maximum_radar_reflectivity_in_the_grid_column_due_to_all_hydrometeors

prals - stratiform rain amount (simulations are convection permitting, so this includes all rainfall)
