This dataset includes names, nature and date of first overseas medical qualification, where obtained, and the date and place of listing on the medical register in an Australian, colony, state or territory. The series starts with the first medical registers required by Australian medical Acts, and ends at the year (1984) when the Australian Medical Council was created. When further medical degrees or qualifications were obtained overseas prior to listing on an Australian register, these are usually provided in additional columns in the dataset, which is hosted in Microsoft Excel so other researchers can easily extract data for their own analyses.
