Data-driven research and teaching feedback loops

Notes for sections 3.1 and 3.2 of the workshop 'Digital methods for research led teaching & learning practices in the COVID new normal'. The workshop was delivered on Monday 14 December 2020 by members of the #DataCreatives research collaboration. Session 3 addressed research practices as teaching practices, and discussed the use of scholarly publishing platforms like figshare, the types of data generated by scholarly publishing platforms such as altmetrics, the use of scholarly publishing data as an open educational resource (OER) by educators at Simon Fraser University (SFU), how these teaching practices generated new research, the ways in which the scholarly practices at SFU have influenced scholarly communications practices here at the University of Melbourne, and how that in turn feeds back into teaching practices.
