The Drawing in the Wild: Mapping Site through the Senses Audio Guide was created for the InSEA Learning through Art making-webinar series held online for the South-East Asia and Pacific Region, Monday 20th August, 2021.

In the Drawing in the Wild: Mapping Site through the Senses Webinar, participants were invited to immerse themselves in the world around them and consider how attending to their surroundings through non-visual senses creates different kinds of knowing. The webinar began with Dr Sarah Healy connecting the Australian region with Japan through her account of an encounter with the Australian Eucalyptus Survivor Tree of Hiroshima - an encounter that happened at a time when bushfires were raging in Australia and the pandemic was in its infancy. She then positions Drawing in the Wild: Mapping Site Through the Senses in relation to Rita Irwin's (2006) Walking to Create an Aesthetic and Spiritual Currere, a reading that provides insight into how the ordinary act of walking in nature can become an active pedagogy of self - a way of performing self-care in these anxious times and creating the conditions for freedom, transformation, and flow.
