The framework conceptualises professional learning in school learning environments as having three key components: knowing what, knowing how, and knowing with (Mahat, 2022) illustrated in the figure. Knowing what or replicative knowledge demonstrates competence or knowledge in spatialised pedagogies. Knowing how or applicative knowledge demonstrates applicability of spatialised pedagogies in teaching practice, and knowing with or collaborative knowledge demonstrates collegial learning and reflection within teaching as a profession. These three key components provide the knowledge base for developing teachers’ spatial competency in implementing and using school learning environments.
