Don Banks wrote his Horn Concerto for Australian Horn player Barry Tuckwell and the London Symphony Orchestra in 1965. Tuckwell performed the concerto on multiple occasions, including a tour to Australia, and it received considerable critical acclaim. This live video-recording of the concerto is the first easily accessible recording of this important piece of Australian music.

Research Statement
The field of research is music performance. This is an important work in the Australian musical canon for which no recording is publicly available – there is only a live recording available in some library archives, but not easily accessible recording available to the public. The aim of this project is to increase awareness and accessibility of this important piece of Australian music. In tandem with this recorded performance I commissioned a piano reduction of the work, to increase its accessibility. This will be a future research output paired with this work.
This recording is the first widely-available and publicly accessible recording of the Don Banks horn concerto, an important work in the Australian musical canon and in Australian horn repertoire. It is an important contribution to Australian musical history and to the continuing practice of Australian classical music.
This is a significant contribution to Australian music, Australian musical history.
