Research Statement

This project formed part of my doctoral research and investigated a rights-based framework for collaborative practice between children and adults. The project involved two adult devisor/writer/performers and nine children aged between 9 and 14 years old as co-creators. The project demonstrated how the constituent features of a rights-based practice work in performance, and how the resulting outcome supported the equitable participation of children in performance for adult audiences. The project generated new frameworks for creative practice for practitioners who work with children and young people in contemporary performance work for adult audiences. This project formed part of my doctoral research which has subsequently been translated into a book.
