Research Statement

This major production by The Australian Ballet was a retrospective celebrating the work of renowned Australian choreographer, Graeme Murphy AO. Shéhérazade was one of six ballets that together formed the production "Murphy". The Shéhérazade was a revival of Murphy's 1979 production. He made some modifications, including inserting the singer (the researcher) into the dance space. Murphy's concept for the work is available at https://graememurphy.com/wordpress/sheherazade/ There are several reviews including https://simonparrismaninchair.com/2018/03/17/the-australian-ballet-murphy-review/ Shéhérazade is a major piece in the orchestral song and mezzo-soprano repertoires.
