Geographic atrophy (GA) is an eye disease which causes irreversible vision loss in patients aged 50 years and older. The disease progresses over time and a patient may become blind. There is no consensus regarding the factors behind progression. In this Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) entry, I explain how I've used artificial intelligence to (a) elucidate factors which cause disease progression, and (b) develop a progression model. This information could be used to guide the development of new treatments for GA.
