Learning from Ordinary Moments
The University of Melbourne Faculty of Education implemented PebblePad in the subject STEM Learning Ecologies.
This subject integrates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics knowledge in an applied context for early childhood educators. In STEM Learning Ecologies, students explore the multimodal nature of learning, a concept that recognises that learning occurs through through oral, written, visual, spatial, tactile, gestural, and aural modalities. Students also learn that STEM education requires intentional teaching to scaffold learners as they play with ideas and engage in explorations.
The learning sequence described here shows how PebblePad can support learners through cycles of investigation, reflection and representation, through multimodal construction.
