Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a prevalent motor neuron disease which causes rapid loss of muscle control, eventually leading to paralysis and respiratory failure. Microscopy images of motor neurons allow the researchers to effectively model the pathology of the ALS disease. Cytoplasmic aggregation of TAR DNA binding protein (TDP-43 protein) in motor neurons had been identified as a distinctive feature in ALS disease pathology. In my research, I aim to develop a robust model to analyse microscopy images to identify important features related to this.
