Fighting blood cancers in human-kind’s best friend

This project aimed to assess the sensitivity of lymphoma and leukemia cells from dogs to the agent venetoclax. We collected blood and lymph node samples from affected dogs, and assessed the in vitro sensitivity of the cells to varying concentrations of venetoclax. Cells from dogs with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and peripheral T-cell lymphoma showed marked sensitivity to treatment with venetoclax.
