This report presents findings from the 2024 Cities and International Engagement Survey conducted by the Melbourne Centre for Cities at the University of Melbourne in partnership with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The survey was completed by 49 city governments from 28 countries focusing on the capacity, methods and impacts of city diplomacy. It presents findings across the following categories: international offices and strategies, priority issues, impacts, training, coordination with national government, resident perceptions and engagement with international agreements. As the fourth iteration of this biennial survey, the results are compared with previous data to identify evolving trends in city diplomatic practice.
