OHRM Upload Project

Published on by Michael Falk

The Online Heritage Resource Manager (OHRM) was a pioneering databasing system developed in the eScholarship Research Centre of the University of Melbourne. Built using Microsoft Access, it allowed researchers to store cultural and social data in a flexible schema, and generate attractive, easily navigable websites in the form of static html pages. With the deprecation of Microsoft Access, and the closure of the eScholarship Research Centre, the OHRM has reached the end of its life. But the research that it enable has not. In this project, we are converting OHRM databases into the RO-Crate format, so that the research data is available for future researchers.

Unfortunately this process is not perfect. In particular, there is an issue with several RO-Crates where the file names for images do not match the file name as given in the database dump. If you are the owner or maintainer of any of the OHRMs in this collection, please contact Michael Falk at the University of Melbourne.

Most of the initial work was performed by Marco La Rosa. Final debugging and uploading performed by Michael Falk. Nick Thieberger, Peter Sefton and Gavan Macarthy also contributed significant labour and expertise.

This project was funded by the Australian Research Data Commons: Transforming the Online Heritage Resource Management Tool to Describo Collections
